Mike Owen, Declares Candidacy for El Dorado County Auditor-Controller in 2018.
In an event long anticipated by citizens across El Dorado County, voters will be offered a critical step towards changing the environment of fear and intimidation associated with County financial management when they vote for Auditor-Controller on June 5rd, 2018. Mike Owen is ready and willing to put his talent and skills to work to put an end to the toxic culture that has prevailed in the County for over 20 years.
In July 2017, Mike Owen, a Cameron Park resident, filed papers with the El Dorado County elections department and formally declared his candidacy for El Dorado County Auditor-Controller in 2018.
“The election was very close last time and I am confident that voters will favor a candidate that is not beholden to outside developer interests and has not been recommended for indictment by the County’s Grand July. I am ready and willing to serve the citizens of El Dorado County by bringing my skills, experience and leadership to bear for the benefit of all of the citizens of El Dorado County” said Mike Owen. “As a small business owner, I understand what it takes to manage finances, keep customers happy and coach and motivate employees. Bringing these talents to bear at the County will contribute to a refreshing tone and style of management where all of the County stakeholders will benefit and thrive.”
Mike Owen is an El Dorado High School graduate who moved away from the area for college and spent over 20 years in Silicon Valley serving in as an auditor for national accounting firms as well as in leadership roles in private industry including Corporate Controller, VP Finance and IT Director. Mike Owen has audited technology leaders including Apple Computer, Cisco Systems and Novell as well as defense contractors including Ford Aerospace. Owen successfully led a financial system conversion to the Oracle system at a public semiconductor manufacturing company and also led a successful Initial Public Offering at Oratec Interventions. Owen returned to El Dorado County in 2006 and operates several small businesses, most notably Crystal Basin Cellars in Camino, CA. He served as CFO of El Dorado County Health Services in 2010.
Owen also announced his campaign manager for this critical effort. “I have selected Scott Hamilton to lead my campaign effort for 2018. His proven expertise in marketing, applied technologies and graphic design will be a key asset to get my message connected with County voters” said Owen.
