Accountability is a key element of the public’s trust and confidence in the governmental process. As the opposite of blame and recrimination, accountability for elected officials is the taking of ownership regarding results, whether positive or negative. It is also about creating accessibility for the taxpayers to both the process and the decision makers.
Mike is prepared to step into the Auditor-Controller’s role with the goal of being available to the public and devoting time and energy to creating an understanding of the County’s decision-making process. Mike is committed to his responsibility and the idea of owning the results of his efforts and wants to bring apply that approach to his role as the County’s financial leader. Mike will create an organization that is built around the concept of accountability and to have that organization operate in a way that provides a positive benchmark for County departments and our community as a whole.
